The third international Ibn Battuta Conference was successfully held in Makassar on September 27-28, 2024.

The third international Ibn Battuta Conference was successfully held with the theme of cross-cultural dialogue and intellectualism. The event was opened by Prof. Nur Hidayah, who emphasized the importance of inter-civilizational collaboration, followed by the launch of the book Musaliar King: Decolonial Historiography of Malabar’s Resistance by Prof. Abbas Panakkal. The conference featured renowned keynote speakers, including Prof. Aishath Muneeza, Prof. Elsadig Elfaqih, and Prof. Mustapha Abdul Hamid, who presented in-depth insights on women’s leadership, globalization challenges, and international collaboration in the digital age. Conducted in a hybrid format, the conference allowed participants from around the world to join both onsite and online, expanding the reach of discussions. Enriched by traditional Sulawesi dance performances and a city tour to Fort Rotterdam, the event successfully combined academic discourse with cultural experiences, concluding with a beachside lunch at Galesong, creating a valuable moment for reflection after two days of intensive dialogue.
